It’s Father’s Day on Sunday 16th June so I thought it would be nice to give all the Dads a present from us at Sashay Dance.
Here’s our top 5 tips to improve your Dad Dancing:
1. Don’t panic
Listen to the music a few seconds first which will help set the pace for your dancing. If it’s very quick music you’re best to do smaller steps and with slower music there’s time to do slightly bigger steps.
2. Keep it simple
To avoid the embarrassing Dad Dance sometimes it’s best to just keep it simple, side tapping and changing direction every now and then, whilst remembering to smile and have fun.
3. Drop the pint
On a table at the side of the dance floor please, it will be a lot easier to dance without it and pints can easily be spilled.
4. Spacial awareness
If there’s not as much room do smaller steps and avoiding flamboyant arm movements will help to prevent any bumps.
5. Don’t jump on the bandwagon
Some Dads purposely Dad Dance because they feel that it’s something they should do.
If all else fails….. just dance like noone’s watching, because they’re not they are checking their phones, we love the Dad Dancing really :). Wishing all the Dads a fabulous Father’s Day, I’ve written this blog post based on inspiration from my own Dad, thanks Dad.

Earlier this month the Sashay Dance team travelled down to London for the Last Night of Freedom supplier party and awards evening. Last Night of Freedom (LNof) are the UKs number 1 hen and stag company specialising in creating the best hen and stag weekends, organising anything from hotels and activities to accessories. We had added excitement for this trip though, as we were nominated for 2 awards – Best National Supplier and The Outstanding Achievement Award.
On arrival we were greeted by Butlers in The Buff with Prosecco and garlands from hula girls for their Hawaiian themed party. After a few Proseccos we moved onto the very glam glitter station which definitely made us in the mood to party.
Time flew by as we mingled with other suppliers and the LNoF team. The butlers were very attentive at topping up our Prosecco and it was soon time for the awards. Drum roll please as the winner was about to be announced for Best National Supplier:
‘and the winner is……. Sashay Dance!’
We all sashayed up to the stage and were so excited to accept our award.
After the awards it was time to party and dance, this was a relief as our feet had been itching all evening with us being complete dance addicts. The music started and before you knew it numerous dance battles were taking place. By then end of the night we had racked up around 26000 steps each!
It’s been an amazing few years for Sashay Dance since launching in July 2016 and we’d like to thank LNoF again for being so great to work with, enabling us to provide even more people the best hen party dance classes.

We specialise in fun dance classes for hen parties and ladies parties across the UK and recently made our first TV appearance on Don’t Tell The Bride on E4 teaching a hen party dance class in Leeds.
Sarah Hough, Director and Founder of Sashay Dance said ‘it’s been an amazing few years for Sashay Dance and when I found out that the hen party that had just booked was for Don’t Tell The Bride I was excited about the experience but a little apprehensive. It really was time to ‘dance like nobody’s watching’ as they filmed the dance class.
It wouldn’t be Don’t Tell The Bride without a little bit of drama! Nathan spent £2000 on the stag do and in typical Don’t Tell The Bride fashion 10% of that amount was spent on the hen party. Nathan picked a Salsa dance class as Jenna enjoys dancing, however the venue he chose was a working mens club and the hens were hoping for something a bit more glam. After arriving in stilettos with no transport arranged and no alcohol budget it wasn’t off to a very promising start. This was until the hens started Salsa dancing and it turns out in Jenna’s interview that they had a good laugh, which really does say something for a hen do on Don’t Tell The Bride!
If I were to rate their Salsa dancing on Strictly I’d give it a ‘seveeeennnnn’ and if you want to know who I think should win Strictly it’s Ashley Roberts. Overall though the hens did a fab job of the Salsa and I wish Nathan and Jenna an amazing life together. It was also great to see Nathan and Jenna at the end of the show putting their Salsa moves to practice at the wedding.’
We organise a lot of Hen Parties at Sashay Dance and I’ve had my fair share of being Maid of Honour. Organising a Hen Party is usually a headache, however if you follow my top tips you’re going to prevent reaching for the Ibuprofen until at least the morning after the Hen Weekend:
Set a date well in advance
Speak to the bride to be and find out the people she 100% wants to be there. Find a date between that small group and everyone else can take it or leave it. There will always be people that can’t attend the hen do.
Activities
Speak to the Hen about what she might like to do, budget pp and where she’d like to go/sort from there. Do not involve anyone else as this will cause chaos. Decide what to do based on what the Hen has said, she’s put you as maid of honour for a reason! Also ask if she’d like a complete surprise or whether she’d like to know what she’s doing. Invitations
Get a list of people the Hen would like to invite and create a nice invite to them. A Facebook Group is a good option, the Hen could even give printed copies to those not on Facebook. Canva is a great online free tool to make beautiful looking invites and can be uploaded as a picture to Facebook or printed off to give to people.
Record keeping
People will RSVP to you via all sorts of means, text, phone, messenger and email etc. It’s very important to keep a record of who’s coming and also when payment is due you can mark it off too.
Payment
Stick to the payment deadline, inform people in advance the deadline and chase 1 month before, 1 week before and on the day. There may be the odd 1 that hasn’t paid at the deadline but this is a lot easier than the whole group having not paid.
Payment again!
Include everything in the cost, asking for payment for bit and bats ie payment for the cocktail masterclass one week, hotel the next week will 100% cause a headache!
Payment again!
There will always be drop outs and there’s 2 ways round this. You can either charge say £5-10 extra a person so you have a reserve fund for drop outs if anything goes wrong as it’s very difficult once you have a dropout/non-payer to then go around the group asking for more money. Don’t communicate that you are doing this extra charge with the Hens (can mention to the bride to be) otherwise this will guarantee more cancellations. If no one drops out use the extra money for drinks on the night/gift for the bride or hen party gift bags.
Payment again!
Get all the payment sorted with venues etc at least 1 month in advance.
Don’t fall out with anyone during the process of organising the Hen Do….
It’s easily done when people are messing you around. Just remain calm and plan as above for those unforeseen circumstances. Remember most people’s intentions are good they are not purposely trying to make your life difficult organising the Hen Weekend, although it may feel like it!

It does take a lot of work to organise a Hen Do but seeing everyone altogether on the day and seeing how happy everyone is makes it very worthwhile. They’ll be lots of fun memories so why not create a What’s App group to share the photos/videos after.

Veeno Wine Tasting Experience – 90-120 minutes in duration

Your Barista will take care of you, introducing the Veeno winery and the labels you will try, as well as explaining which spuntini from the sharing platter best complements each of the wines you will taste. Your Barista will bring you each wine (70ml) one by one, each time discussing it with you in between leaving you to enjoy the experience at your leisure. You’ll enjoy 2 white wines and 3 reds paired with authentic spuntini (appetisers) to share on a delicious sharing platter. Finally, you’ll taste a sweet wine with Veeno’s homemade Tiramasu.
You can follow the dance class with the Wine Tasting Experience, in which case we’ll book a venue no further than a 15 minute walk away) or you can book this at any point during your Hen/Ladies Night Party Weekend or Teambuilding Day.
