The Sashay Dance Charts

We now have a whopping 20 groovy themes to choose from nationwide for your hen do dance class and many of our hens ask which are our most popular before deciding.  I’ve now compiled the Sashay Dance charts with the top 5 themes for 2022:

1. Spice girls
   I’ll tell you what you want, what you really, really want!  For the hens this is top of the pops and makes up over 30% of our bookings.  Before looking at any of our other themes available ‘stop right now’ before you’ve tried this!

2. Beyonce 
   All the single ladies! Queen B has really made an impact with her iconic dance.  ‘Now put your hands up’ if you’re ready to learn a sassy routine, suitable for all and inspired by Beyonce’s showstopping choreography.
3. Disney 
   Be the ultimate Disney princess and get ready to live happily ever after at our Disney mash up class. Dance around to our mix or if you have some favourites in mind we can even custom your own song mix in advance.
4. Dirty Dancing 
   Have the ‘time of your lives’ at this Dirty Dancing themed dance class.  The hen is the star of the show as ‘nobody puts Baby in the corner’
5. Mamma Mia and Abba
   ‘Mamma Mia here we go again’ what better song to dance to, that’s unless you’re the ultimate ‘dancing queen’!  Mamma Mia and Abba come joint 5^th in our top 5 charts, this one really makes a great choice for all ages too.

Why Hen Party Dance Classes Have Become Such a Thing!

I started Sashay Dance 7 years ago and a lot of people said ‘hen party dance classes? What are they, I’ve never heard of those, is that even a thing?’  Then they went down the route of telling me all the other classes I should organise instead.   So the morale of the story is just ignore everyone and do what you want, which is what I did.  I digress, so yes hen party dance classes have become a thing and what a wonderful thing they are .  Here’s my conclusions for their roaring success from my experience founding and starting the UK’s go to hen party dance company:

• They are sooooo much fun!
• Women in dance can be traced back to the very origins of civilisation from cave paintings to Egyptian frescos, we’ve been dancing and loving it from the very beginning! It’s engrained in our DNA, so just like chocolate and prosecco, we can’t get enough of this activity.
• Long before TikTok many different styles of dance were ‘trending’ and we always keep up to date with the latest trends to keep everyone entertained. Our latest themes include RuPaul, Six The Musical and Line Dancing, we can also create something bespoke, in the past we’ve done everything from Bollywood, Irish Dance, Gangham Style to even a Boxing themed dance class, your wish is our command.
• Dancing provides lots of laughter and happy endorphins whizzing around through the body, dancing with friends and family is a great source of entertainment for everyone involved. You can even spread that entertainment to your friends and family by performing the routine at the wedding.
• The dance classes really do provide happy dancing memories to last a lifetime and hens enjoy looking back laughing sharing memories about the class or even their performance at the wedding.
• The classes are suitable for everyone to enjoy including all ages and abilities. We also welcome pregnant ladies and adapt the routines where needed.  It’s an activity for everyone to enjoy.  Spectating guests are welcome as well but usually they can’t resist to join in.
• Dancing brings everyone together and has done historically right from the start of time, this makes it the ideal hen party activity bringing together 2 families and celebrating such a wonderful occasion.

Sashay Snaps – Our favourite photos from the hen party season!

It’s been an absolutely fabulous hen party season and I’d like to share with you our favourite snaps from our fun themed hen do dance classes:

These ladies looked just the part at our new Scottish Dancing themed dance class available in Scotland

 

A Cinderella story at our Disney themed hen do dance class in York. The group all dresses as their favourite Disney princesses and princes!

I am very excited to announce our new dance lesson themes which are sure to give you all something to dance about at your next hen party or event:

A sassy dance class with songs from RuPaul, one of the most famous drag queens and best known for RuPaul’s drag race

 

• Six The Musical

Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived!  A fabulous dance class based on the new musical Six, just be grateful you’re not marrying Henry VIII

 

• Line Dancing

Yee-haw! A great fun country and western line dancing class that’s suitable for everyone to enjoy

 

• Scottish Dancing (available in Edinburgh and Glasgow)

Tips For Dancing in Your Wedding Dress!

Sashay Dance visited Bridal Reloved York to come up with the best advice on dancing in your wedding dress.  Here’s our top 5 tips:

 

• If you’ve not yet got your dress there’s a few wedding dress styles which make dancing a whole lot easier.  Try the high low dress (slightly higher on the hem on the front than the back), the dress with the detachable train or why not use it as the perfect excuse to get 2 completely different dresses.  Dresses vary immensely in weight too and generally the lighter the dress the easier it is to dance in.
• If you’ve already found your dream dress you can bustle the dress.  This can either be done using a hook and eye on the outside or bustled from the inside using a button.  The good news is that in terms of alterations this is a relatively quick job allowing you to dance the night away in style. 

• Have a little practice dancing around in your wedding dress with your wedding shoes on.  If they are problematic why not try a wedge, you could even jump on the comfy bandwagon of the wedding trainer trend.  Some trainers come with a wedge maintaining the perfect dress length all night long. 
• For court shoes that tend to flop on and off when dancing we’d highly recommend the ‘clear strap’.  The clear strap can be put around the shoe to give that extra bit of security, we’ve used these at Sashay Dance before and they are fab! 

• We’d recommend leaving your drink at the table, as dancing round with a drink in a normal dress is hard enough as it is.  It is your wedding though, so if you do want to drink and dance go ahead, a nice champagne is least likely to stain.
• And most importantly…. have the most amazing wedding day and lots of fun!
